Downton Duffle Coat

One of my summer goals was to sew something awesome. Here it is. I really, really like this coat. It is nowhere near perfect, but I am really happy with the finished product. One Christmas present down, lots more to make.

I bought the pattern from Peekaboo Pattern Shop. It includes sizes 3-6 months up to like size 12 boys. The great things about sewing this coat were 1. It didn't take forever, and 2. I had all the fabric leftover from other projects. I did have to buy the toggles and zipper. The pattern was a little pricey (this coming from someone who rarely buys patterns), so Owen might get a coat sewn for him every year to make up for that cost.
I used wide-wale corduroy for the main fabric, black knit for the lining, fleece for the interlining, and this fuzzy brown stuff Mom gave to me once for the hood lining.

And black twill iron-on patches for the elbow patches.

When I open my fictional Etsy shop, I will sell these along with the Christmas stockings.

Wow, fancy. Owen's going to look really cute sleeping in that coat.

Do you think he just sleeps all the time?

I'm sure he eats sometimes, but that's all I ever see.
