DIY Baby K'tan style baby carrier

I really like baby carriers. With Camille it was the only way to get things done sometimes. With Owen, it's the only way to keep Camille away from him. I have one I really like that's a knock-off Ergo, but Owen doesn't seem very comfortable in it lately. I used a borrowed Moby wrap a few times with Camille. I liked the concept, but it was warm and I never got very good at tying it. It always took me 5-10 minutes to get it right. I saw the Baby K'tan style on the internet, and I wanted to buy one. It's like a simplified Moby wrap. It costs $50. I was really close to just ordering one when I did some Googling and realized it would be simple to make one.

I used this tutorial. It was a cinch to make since it is basically just two big loops of fabric. The hardest part was cutting, just because it is a lot of fabric to maneuver. My new (to me) machine has a triple stretch stitch for seams that need to be really strong, so I used that for the first part of the French seams. There is a sash to tie around the baby that just kind of reinforces everything. I cut out the sash, but I didn't tie it on for the pictures.

My cute model, scratch on head compliments of Camille.

Brian was against me buying another baby carrier. When I told him I was going to DIY one instead, he said he liked that idea even less because, "who are we going to sue if the baby falls out?" Very funny, Brian.

I know a good lawyer if you want to sue yourself.
