I've been planning the kids' summer wardrobe, which will include quite a few items that I plan on making. Here are the first two:
This pattern is from It's Always Autumn. It is free in size 4 (yay!), but wouldn't be hard to make in any other size. Since there is elastic in the neckband, it slips over the head easily and the sizing can be adjusted easily, too. It's a little big, but I made it extra long so she can wear it for two summers, maybe even three. The fabric was super cheap, so it isn't exactly trendy, but Camille picked it, so she likes it, and I think it's okay.
I made Owen a t-shirt, and I'm planning a few more. I'll probably do some raglans since they are way easier and maybe a henley since I have a good pattern. This fabric was more pricey, but I really like it. It is really nice and soft, and now he'll have one cute patterned shirt. The rest will probably be solids/colorblocked from cheap knits. It is also a little big (2T), but it will probably shrink a little. I really should prewash, but it just adds an extra step and more waiting when I want to sew something NOW. I think it turned out really cute.

Pre-washing is over-rated in my opinion, but then again, I have had several things shrink on me once I washed them.
I was going to write a comment something along the lines of "Why on earth would you go to the trouble of buying fabric, measuring and cutting the pattern, and sewing t-shirts, when you can just get them on clearance for a dollar?", but I decided that might not be nice. If you like sewing t-shirts, good for you!
