Ben's former student teacher/current co-worker and his wife are having a baby in October. I was planning on giving them something and ran across the perfect fabric at Hancock fabrics. I really wanted to make this car seat blanket, but didn't know if they would be car seat nazis, so I opted for a different style.
However, I asked Janet if I could make Haley one, and she said yes! And, I made sure she would be okay with it. Ben was okay with it once I showed him the final project and asked why we have not had one for our babies. I was too lazy to get around to it. That is why.
Anyway, while looking through my fabric I discovered I had the perfect fleece, which is thin, but also warm. And, it wasn't pink so I feel confident Janet will approve. I just followed Running With Scissors tutorial for cutting it out. Since I decided to only use one layer of fleece, I just putting binding on the edges and it was finished.
Maybe once it is actually in the car seat, Janet will put a picture up of how it looks in there. What you do is sit it in the chair and then you can fold the edges around baby. And over the head if you really want to keep the baby warm. The good thing about this is that the bay can't kick it off! I will definitely make one whenever we have another baby because Russell and Meghan were kickers. We would never keep blankets on them.

Casey let me borrow one that I LOVED with Owen. It is similar to that but zippers up the front, kind of like this one: http://www.openstratus.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/infant-stroller-blanket-450x454.jpg
I loved it so much that I didn't pass it down to Greg with the other baby stuff. I hid it away in my closet so I could use it as a pattern to make my own. That hasn't happened, but I'll just keep using the original instead.
That looks pretty awesome and like it would be pretty easy to make.
I can't wait to get it!
